Wiveliscombe Colts 42  Taunton Colts 14

Wiveliscombe Colts completed the seasons double over Taunton who have to play Wivey in the quarter-finals of the Somerset Cup later this month.

Wiveliscombe led 10 - 7 at half time through two tries by Kevin Koloska while Taunton’s first half points came from a converted try.

Wiveliscombe stormed to victory in the second half through tries by Neville Weir, Felix Wood, Joe Harper, James Shaw, Matt Ellis, Grant Davey who also converted one.

Taunton Colts 0 Wiveliscombe Colts 22

Wiveliscombe continued their recent improved form with a well-deserved away victory against local neighbours Taunton. Playing on Taunton?s main pitch, Wiveliscombe started the game strongly with an early penalty and unconverted try from Grant Davey. The remainder of the half was evenly contested with Wiveliscombe just edging the share of possession. Taunton spent the first 10 minutes of the second half deep in the Wiveliscombe half, but were unable to break through their organised defence. Wiveliscombe regained control of the game, scoring two excellent tries from Dean Rawles and Lev Mustafa with Grant Davey converting both. This week Wiveliscombe entertain Kingsbridge, with the home side hoping to overturn a close defeat earlier in the season.

Sidmouth Colts 20 Wiveliscombe Colts 13

Wiveliscombe were very unlucky to lose this entertaining match at Sidmouth. The home side started very strongly, scoring two unconverted tries in the first 10 minutes. The next 20 minutes belonged to Wiveliscombe; with Lev Mustafa finishing an excellent passage of play with an unconverted try. Sidmouth finished the half with a converted breakaway try. Wiveliscombe edged the second half with an unconverted try by Simon Dawes and a penalty from Grant Davey. A late Sidmouth penalty secured the win for the home side. This week Wiveliscombe visit their local neighbours, Taunton.

Kingsbridge Colts 10 Wiveliscombe Colts 5

 Wiveliscombe narrowly lost this evenly matched encounter on their first visit to Kingsbridge?s High House ground. Kingsbridge open the scoring on 5 minutes with a penalty after Wiveliscombe strayed offside. Wiveliscombe responded with a try by Jake Sharland on 25 minutes following a well-worked back row move on Kingsbridge?s 22-metre line.Felix Wood struck the post with his near touchline conversion effort.

Both teams had their chances in the second half, with Graham Broom coming very close from a lineout. After much pressure Kingsbridge eventually broke through Wiveliscombe?s organised defence to score a converted try.
